Ensenada De Todos Santos, Mexico
Ensenada, Mexico is the oldest documented town in Baja California. Ensenada was first discovered in 1542 by Portuguese navigator Don Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, who named the bay San Mateo. In 1602, Sebastián Vizcaíno rediscovered the area and dubbed it Ensenada De Todos Santos. Although Ensenda was the first Baja California town to be discovered, the area remained uninhabited until the Dominican missions were established in the 18th century.
